RN - WOUND CARE

Basic Function

Under the direct supervision of the Program manager and Clinical Coordinator of the Wound Care Department, the nurse provides patient care that is continuously evaluated, planned for, and revised as needed. The patient’s status is documented within reassessments, including care needs, interventions, nursing care provided, patient response, and outcome of care. The nurse organizes and prioritizes work to provide health information, discharge planning, and patient care in a safe environment to maximize health in the continuum of care and protect the patient.

The nurse assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients and is accountable for assessing the patient’s basic human needs, enabling the team of providers to make appropriate decisions to develop, implement, and evaluate a care plan that includes biophysical, bio‑psychological, environmental/safety, self‑care, educational, and discharge planning needs. The nurse is professional, competent, a leader of personnel, and a collaborator with other professionals, demonstrating awareness of his or her unique position in the department and responsibilities as a professional nurse.

• Currently licensed by the Ohio State Board of Nursing. BSN preferred.
• Must have current knowledge/training in wound care – possess or be willing to become certified in wound care.
• Maintains current B.C.L.S. certification acquired through the American Heart Association.
