Position Summary

The Assistant Director of Belonging, Culture, and Leadership is a full‑time professional staff member within Student Affairs responsible for cultivating an inclusive campus environment that supports student belonging, identity development, and leadership engagement. This position develops and leads cultural, spiritual life, and leadership initiatives; supports living learning communities; and mentors students who lead cultural organizations and programs. The Assistant Director works collaboratively across campus to design experiences that foster inclusion, cultural support and exploration, and holistic student development.

This position reports to the Director of Belonging, Culture, and Leadership and supervises student employees.

Essential Functions Cultural Programming & Campus Belonging
  • Develop and implement cultural and identity‑based programming
  • Advise and support cultural student organizations
  • Collaborate with campus partners to promote an inclusive climate
  • Support retention and success of underrepresented students
Spiritual Life Support
  • Support spiritual and interfaith programming
  • Serve as a resource for student‑led spiritual groups
  • Facilitate student‑led spiritual life programming, including Chapel services.
Living Learning Communities
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to support belonging‑driven LLCs including the Julius Chatman LLC (JCLLC) and The Grove LLC
  • Mentor student leaders in communities
Student Leadership Development
  • Recruit and mentor student leaders
  • Develop leadership training programs
  • Support leadership pathways for students
Mentoring & Student Support
  • Support student mentorship programming
  • Serve as a visible support resource
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Two or more years of relevant experience
  • Experience working with diverse student populations
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or related field
  • Experience advising cultural organizations
  • Leadership development experience
  • Experience supporting spiritual or interfaith initiatives
  • Experience working with underrepresented, first‑generation, Pell‑eligible, and diverse populations
