AboutThe Role
Amrize Cement Inc, Alpena Cement Plant is seeking an experienced and dedicated Civil Construction Manager to oversee, plan, and direct civil engineering projects from conception to completion.

What You'll Accomplish- Ensure infrastructure projects—roads, bridges, water systems, and earthworks—are completed on time, within budget, and in strict adherence to quality and safety standards.
- Project Planning & Strategy:
Develop comprehensive project plans, schedules, and budgets. Coordinate with engineers, architects, and stakeholders to define scope and deliverables. - Site Management:
Oversee daily operations on the construction site. Ensure work progresses according to schedule and complies with design specifications. - Budget & Resource Allocation:
Monitor project finances, track expenses, and manage resource allocation to maximize efficiency and prevent cost overruns. - Contractor & Vendor Management:
Select, hire, and manage subcontractors and vendors. Negotiate contracts and ensure partners meet performance and quality expectations. - Health, Safety, & Compliance:
Enforce adherence to MSHA and Amrize regulations, local building codes, and environmental guidelines. Conduct site inspections and risk assessments to maintain a zero-incident culture. - Quality Control:
Implement assurance procedures. Review progress and quality continuously, resolving design or construction issues as they arise. - Communication & Reporting:
Act as primary point of contact for clients, stakeholders, and local authorities. Provide progress reports, lead site meetings, and communicate updates effectively to the executive team. - Promote a culture of safety, exhibiting behaviors that adhere to health, safety, and environmental policies.
Bachelor's degree or 7 to 10 years of equivalent experience
Additional Education PreferredMaster's degree
Field of Study PreferredBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications- Certified Construction Manager (CCM) designation.
- Experience working with local municipal authorities and navigating permitting processes.
- Advanced degree (Master’s) in Construction Management or Engineering.
Minimum of 7 to 10 years of proven experience in civil construction management, engineering, or a similar role overseeing large-scale infrastructure projects.
Required Technical SkillsProficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, Primavera P6, AutoCAD, MS Project). Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, construction methods, and materials.
Travel Requirements0-10%
Additional Requirements- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and manage large, diverse teams on complex projects.
- Experience managing multi-million dollar budgets and forecasting costs accurately.
- Strong leadership, exceptional problem-solving skills, deep technical knowledge, and proven track record managing cross-functional teams.
- Must be eligible to work in USA.
- Adherence to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment (PPE). Employees required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face.
