Description

Alpena Public Schools is accepting applications for a Part Time Title I Teacher (0.67 FTE, approximately 25 hours a week) at Besser Elementary School.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor of Arts/Science degree in education from an accredited college/university, and a valid Michigan Teaching certificate is required.

SUMMARY :
The role of the Title I Intervention Teacher is to develop students' academic skills by implementing district-approved Title I curriculum and interventions, addressing specific educational needs of students, and providing feedback regarding student progress, expectations, goals, and activities to parents and teachers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Works cooperatively with building principal, instructional coaches, and classroom teachers.

Provides research-based interventions to targeted K-5 students in both Math and ELA.

Assists targeted students during Math and ELA interventions in the general education classroom.

Actively participates on the School Improvement Team.

Actively participates in school-wide Math and ELA initiatives.

Attends Tier 2 Data Reviews to interpret and use data for diagnosis, instructional planning, and program evaluation.

Follows research-based interventions with fidelity.

Uses ongoing assessment to monitor student progress, verifying that learning is occurring, and adjusting curriculum and instruction.

Encourages self‑assessment by students and assists them in developing plans for improving their performance.

Keeps a data profile on each student receiving intervention using the District Data Warehouse.

Pre and post assessments for each cycle.

Progress monitoring for interventions for each cycle.

Communicates, in understandable terms, individual student progress knowledgeably and responsibly to the student, parents, and professional colleagues who need access to the information.

Assists parent coordinator and classroom teachers in planning and implementing parent workshops.

Demonstrates behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.

Reviews email communication regularly and responds as needed.

Maintains regular and reliable attendance.

Follows all District policies and procedures.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Assures compliance with accepted practices of providing Title I Parental Involvement services.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor of Arts/Science degree in education from an accredited college/university is required.

Demonstrated successful teaching experience.

Possesses expertise in effective teaching strategies and best practices.

Skilled in the use of technology to support instruction.

Ability to plan and evaluate strategies for improving instruction.

Ability to read and analyze data to inform instruction.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid Michigan teaching certificate is required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, staff, and the general public.
