Position Summary
AMI is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Technical Writer to create high-quality documentation packages for our industrial equipment. This role involves producing both custom and standard manuals for shredders, conveyors, and related machinery. The ideal candidate will have strong CAD proficiency, technical aptitude, and the ability to translate complex engineering concepts into clear, user-friendly documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain technical manuals, instruction sheets, and documentation packages for AMI equipment.
- Interpret CAD models and engineering drawings to create assembly instructions, maintenance guides, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to gather technical data and ensure documentation accuracy.
- Standardize documentation formats and ensure compliance with internal and customer requirements.
- Update manuals based on product revisions and field feedback.
- Support integration of digital access tools (e.g., QR codes) into documentation.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Solid Works, AutoCAD).
- Strong technical writing skills tailored to industrial or manufacturing environments.
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
- Competency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Understanding of mechanical systems and industrial equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Familiarity with manufacturing workflows and engineering collaboration tools.
- Translate complex engineering concepts into clear, accessible documentation.
- Work effectively in a shop environment to observe equipment and processes firsthand.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering and manufacturing teams.
- Adapt documentation to evolving product designs and customer feedback.
