Summary
This position in collaboration with a physician develops an anesthesia care plan. Provides IV sedation and/or monitored anesthesia care and/or administers general, regional or local anesthesia for a variety of surgical, obstetrical, diagnostic or therapeutic procedures. Monitors patients accurately and performs CPR, ventilation or life support measures during emergencies throughout the Medical Center. Manages the patients’ physiological condition while under anesthesia and initiates corrective actions as necessary or as directed by a physician.
Assists with other departmental or professional duties as requested by the Manager of Anesthesiology.
- Sign-on bonus of up to $75,000 and relocation included*
- Perform pre‑anesthetic evaluation and preparation (25%).
- Prepares the OR Suite for all types of anesthesia (25%).
- Administers, manages, and monitors anesthesia care during induction, maintenance, and emergence (25%).
- Provide post‑anesthesia care and evaluation (25%).
- RN:
Registered Nurse – Michigan state license as Registered Nurse. - ACLS:
Advanced Cardiac Life Support – Within 6 months of hire or transfer. - CRNA:
Certified RN Anesthetist – Michigan state specialty license as a Nurse Anesthetist. - BLS:
Basic Life Support – Within 1 month of hire or transfer. - NBCRNA:
National Board CRNA.
- Education:
Nurse Anesthetist (essential).
- Takes appropriate safety precautions to ensure the safe administration of anesthesia care.
- Identifies opportunities for improving quality, including patient outcomes and operational efficiency within the Department.
- Provide clinical support to other departments within the Medical Center.

Written, organized, and interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups to interact with people at all levels to communicate ideas and concepts in a clear and understandable manner. Demonstrates the ability to perform basic and advanced skills required practicing anesthesia. These may include but are not limited to: adult and pediatric venipuncture, arterial line insertion, medication calculation and effects, sterile technique, airway maintenance, administration and management of regional anesthetics.

- Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as trauma, grief and death.
- Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required.
- Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined.
- Overall vision and hearing necessary with or without assisted devices.
- Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.
- Some exposure to blood-borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow My Michigan Health blood borne pathogen and TB testing as required.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.
- Overall dexterity required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.
Physical Demand Level: Medium. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 21-50 lbs., frequently 34-66% of the workday 20 lbs., and/or walk/stand/push/pull of arm/leg controls and constantly (67-100% of the workday) 10 lbs.
