DescriptionIn collaboration with the Registered Nurse (RN), provides safe, quality care for patients/residents according to individualized care plan that supports patient/resident outcomes. Treats all patients/residents with dignity and respect. Know, follow and maintain resident rights. Assists with oversight of non-clinical and support staff personnel.
Responsibilities- Assesses patient health care needs, nursing care requirements and the delivery of nursing care for all assigned patient, recognizing the specific individual needs of the neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient.
- Plans and prioritizes care required to meet assigned patients' health care needs.
- Implements nursing actions in accordance with established standards of nursing practice and established policy.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of nursing care to ensure responsible and appropriate care is rendered to patients.
- Self‑Management:
Holds self accountable for delivery of responsible nursing care, demonstrates effective communication skills and interpersonal relationships. Assumes responsibility for own continued development and assists with the development of other staff members. - Participates in Performance Improvement as required by My Michigan Health and the job description.
- Understands and is accountable for My Michigan Health's customer service standards.
- RN:
Registered Nurse (Credential; Equivalent Experience with in 1 month of hire or transfer). - BLS:
Basic Life Support (Credential; Equivalent Experience with in 1 month of hire or transfer).
- Associate's Degree in Nursing (Equivalent
Experience:
None specified).
- Operates equipment as outlined on orientation checklists, policy and procedures.
- Participates in equipment in‑services and competencies as they relate to role expectations.
- Performs job skills outlined on orientation checklist as they relate to role expectations.
- Previous direct patient care experience preferred.
- Medical terminology or related experience preferred.
- Must have at least two years medical center acute care experience.
- Must demonstrate knowledge in rehabilitation nursing by completion of the rehabilitation training modules.
- Must have a minimum of six months experience in acute physical rehabilitation or acceptable related training (such as experience working with conditions including neuromuscular and orthopedic) and experience is preferred.
- Certified Rehab Nurse preferred.
- Must pass lift test.
- Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as trauma, grief and death.
- Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.
- Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.
- Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).
- Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.
- Some exposure to blood‑borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow My Michigan Health blood‑borne pathogen and TB testing as required.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.
- Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.
- Physical Demand Level: Medium. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 21-50 lbs., frequently 34-66% of the workday 20 lbs. and/or walk/stand/push/pull of arm/leg controls and constantly (67-100% of the workday) 10 lbs.
