We are seeking an experienced Accountant to manage the day-to-day operational accounting for a mixed-use commercial property portfolio that includes retail, office, and multi-family assets. This role will also support development accounting activities, including assistance with preparing construction loan draws and coordinating with lenders and project teams.
Key Responsibilities Property Accounting- Maintain full-cycle accounting for mixed-use commercial properties
- Input, maintain, and update lease data in the property accounting system (Yardi), ensuring accuracy of rent schedules, escalations, CAM terms, and billing provisions.
- Record and reconcile monthly transactions, including rent revenue, CAM recoveries, operating expenses, and accruals.
- Collaborate with property management to resolve billing discrepancies and account issues.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Perform bank, escrow, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assist with annual budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
- Support year-end close processes and coordinate with external accountants and auditors.
- Assist with construction accounting, including project costs and budgets.
- Assist with preparing construction loan draws, coding invoices, and gathering lien waivers, and other required backup documentation.
- Coordinate with lenders, inspectors, title company, contractors, consultants, and project managers related to draw submissions.
- Maintain organized records for all development-related financial activity.
- 5+ years of real estate property accounting experience, preferably mixed-use assets (retail, office, and/or multi-family) Exposure to development or construction accounting and loan draw process a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of GAAP
- Proficiency with Yardi accounting software and Excel.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
