Position Overview:

The Senior Accountant will oversee accounting functions, financial reporting, reconciliations, budget support, and compliance activities for a City Government organization while ensuring adherence to governmental accounting standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements, reports, and supporting schedules.
Perform month-end and year-end closing activities.
Reconcile general ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies.
Support budget development, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
Ensure compliance with governmental accounting standards, policies, and procedures.
Analyze financial data and provide recommendations to management.
Assist with annual audits and preparation of audit schedules.
Collaborate with department leaders to support fiscal management and reporting needs.
Monitor expenditures and revenues to ensure budgetary compliance.

Qualifications:

Municipal, county, or state government accounting or finance experience.
Experience with governmental accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and account reconciliations.
Knowledge of governmental accounting standards and financial controls.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration, or a related field.
CPA or CPA-track candidates are preferred but not required.
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
