Description

Senior Accountant at SEMG plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the organization’s financial records. This position is responsible for managing and executing various accounting functions, including general ledger maintenance, financial reporting, and compliance with accounting standards. The Senior Accountant will also support the Accounting Manager with budgeting, forecasting, and process improvement initiatives, serving as a key contributor to the overall financial health of SEMG.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities
  • General Accounting
  • Prepare, review, and maintain journal entries, general ledger accounts, and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas requiring attention.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating the chart of accounts and financial policies.
Financial Reporting
  • Prepare financial statements, management reports, and variance analyses for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other relevant regulations.
  • Coordinate and support audits, providing detailed schedules and documentation as required.
Budgeting and Forecasting
  • Collaborate with the Accounting Manager and departmental leaders to assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
  • Monitor budget performance and provide insights to support decision‑making.
  • Analyze cost structures and recommend strategies for improving financial performance.
Compliance and Process Improvement
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the accounting function.
  • Maintain documentation of financial processes, policies, and procedures.
Leadership and Collaboration
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting staff, fostering professional development.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including operations, human resources, and leadership, to support organizational goals.
  • Act as a key contact for financial inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications Education and Certification
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred.
Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role.
  • Strong experience in financial reporting, reconciliations, and general ledger management.
  • Prior experience in the healthcare industry is a plus.
Skills And Abilities
  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Quick Books, Net Suite, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
