The Commercial Manager will be responsible to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to define and drive the commercial strategy, profitability and customer responses for assigned deals. This role is responsible for leading the demand to order (DTO) process and providing high quality proposals/quotes to our customer base. In this role, you will spearhead the overall deal formulation including project management, risk compliance per defined policies, financial health, response management, contracting, negotiations and internal handoffs with accountability for meeting quality, process compliance and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Provide competitive quotes built on winning pricing strategies and equitable terms & conditions.
- Lead the transactional deal process (DTO) with the ability to structure creative win-win solutions.
- Spearhead deal reviews to ensure risks, mitigation strategies and business approvals are reflected in the scope, schedule, financials and overall quote/response.
- Interface with Region Sales teams to develop commercial strategies and solutions that meet/exceed customer requirements and business goals.
- Support the deal team during negotiations to ensure successful closure.
- Own a clean and comprehensive handoff to the execution/deployment team.
- Develop, in conjunction with legal, appropriate terms & conditions and contracts.
- Support and adhere to Company’s core values and Code of Conduct and Ethics Policy.
- Represent the Company in a positive, professional manner when working with internal and external customers.
- Perform other duties or responsibilities as assigned or required.
- Strong commercial experience with the ability to structure creative deals for customer solutions, negotiate contracts, and deal effectively with customers.
- Experience in sales, commercial finance, contract negotiation, risk and/or project management.
- Excellent written and analytical skills.
- Industry knowledge/competitive landscape understanding is preferred.
- Good working knowledge of legal aspects and contracting requirements.
- General understanding of utilities and knowledge concerning utility distribution systems.
- Proficient multitasking, project and time management skills.
- Computer skills that include Microsoft Office.
- Ability to influence others and be a collaborative team player while being assertive when needed.
- Detail-oriented without over complicating matters and able to translate complex matters into simple solutions.
- Strong executive presence with effective communication skills.
- Change agent mentality and curiosity to challenge the status quo and simplify business processes.
- Own opportunities from the initial customer request to contract closure.
- Be the focal point of a broad cross-functional team, coordinating inputs and outcomes to maximize customer value and meet business goals.
- Manage workload with accountability for business KPIs — order budgets, proposal timeliness, cycle time, win rate, risk compliance, and project profitability.
- Make decisions with moderate effect on the business.
- Bachelor's degree
- MBA is a plus
- 5 - 7+ years of experience required
- A combination of education and experience may be considered
