Job Summary

The Commissions Analyst is responsible for the end-to-end processing, analysis, and reconciliation of commission data to ensure accurate and timely payment to agents, brokers, and agencies. This role involves auditing carrier statements, managing complex compensation plans, resolving discrepancies, and providing high-level customer service to internal sales teams and external producers. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, advanced Excel proficiency, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Commission Processing: Process monthly/weekly commission statements from insurance carriers. Accurately calculate, adjust, and pay out commissions to agents based on compensation plans and contracts.
  • Reconciliation & Auditing: Perform detailed audits of incoming commission payments against expected schedules. Identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies, including missing payments or incorrect commission percentages.
  • Data Maintenance: Maintain the accuracy of the Agency Management System (AMS) or CRM database, ensuring all policy, agent, and license data is current.
  • Agent/Broker Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for inquiries regarding commission payments, statements, and 1099 questions.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Prepare regular commission reports for management, identifying trends, anomalies, and performance metrics.
  • Process Improvement: Identify bottlenecks in the commission process and implement improvements or automation to increase efficiency.
  • Compliance & Audit: Ensure all commission payouts comply with company policies, legal regulations and internal audit requirements.
Required Qualifications & Skills
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, or a related business field.
  • Experience: 2–4 years of experience in commission calculation, payroll, or financial analysis
  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, complex formulas).
  • Analytical

    Skills:

    Strong ability to solve complex problems and work with large datasets.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with agents, brokers, and carriers.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail under pressure.
  • Independence: Ability to work independently and prioritize workload to meet strict deadlines.
  • Ethical Conduct: High level of integrity and confidentiality in handling sensitive financial and personal data.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify root causes of commission discrepancies and take corrective actions.
