As a Risk Engineer,you’llpartner with clients and internal teams to deliver innovative risk solutions that protect people, property, and profitability. This is not just about assessing risk—it’sabout shaping the future of risk management through expertise, technology, and proactive consulting.

We hire Risk Engineers across multiple specialty areas and experience levels. Your placement will be based on your background and level ofexpertisewithin specificlines(e.g., construction, energy,property, national accounts, inland marine) and/or multi-line.

Field roles will work with all lines of business (WC, GL, Products, Property & Auto).

What You’llDo

• Conduct risk assessments,site surveys,and deliver actionable recommendations to reduce loss exposure with focus on customer-centricity and our service model to form partnerships while mitigating risk

• Collaborate with underwriting, claims, andcustomersto develop tailored risk improvement strategies.

• Working with our distribution partners to help differentiate

• Leverage data analytics and digital tools to provide insights and predictive solutions.

• Serve as a trusted advisor, educating clients on emerging risks and best practices.

• Contribute toinnovationinitiatives that integrate AI and humanexpertisefor precision and speed.

What We’re Looking For

Experience:Background in risk engineering, safety, or related fields; specialtyexpertiseor multi-line experience preferred.

Skills:

• Technical knowledge in risk control and industry standards
• Strongconsultativeskillstomarketrisk mitigation solutions
• Self-starters who can independently manage a client service book across a designated territory.
• Technical writingproficiencyto effectively communicate risk evaluation and mitigation measures to clients and underwriters
• Ability to analyze data and tell a compelling story with insights
• Proficiency with digital tools (dashboards, mobile apps, client platforms) and openness to emerging technologies
• Customer-centric mindset and collaborative approach
• Certification in safety or risk management disciplines (such as CSP, CIH, CPCU, CFPS, ARM) is a plus.

Education:Degree in engineering, safety, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees.
