The Project
Join our Integration Center team to help streamline and strengthen engineering operations by transforming key workflows into clear, repeatable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and practical support materials. In this hands‑on role, you’ll partner directly with engineers to observe day‑to‑day processes, document step‑by‑step procedures, and create process maps and templates that improve consistency, quality, and onboarding efficiency. By the end of the internship, you’ll deliver a suite of approved SOPs and actionable process improvement recommendations—creating immediate, measurable impact.
TheOpportunity
Today, many critical engineering workflows are executed inconsistently or lack formal documentation, leading to inefficiencies, slower onboarding, and increased risk of errors. This project is an opportunity to modernize how work gets done—building standardized SOPs, templates, and training assets that scale knowledge, improve communication, and drive consistency across teams.
What You’ll GainThis is a high‑impact, hands‑on experience focused on real‑world outcomes—not theoretical work. You’ll collaborate with engineers, observe live workflows, and create tangible deliverables that are used by the business. Along the way, you’ll build core skills in:
- Technical writing and documentation
- Process analysis and workflow optimization
- Cross‑functional collaboration
- Enterprise tools and operational systems
Your work will directly improve onboarding readiness, team consistency, and overall quality across engineering operations.
DeliverablesBy the end of the internship, you will deliver:
- 3–5 fully documented and approved SOPs
- 3–5 corresponding process maps
- A standardized SOP and checklist template library
- A 1–2‑page process improvement summary report
- A final stakeholder presentation
To accomplish this, you will:
- Shadow engineering, QA, and operations teams to identify high‑impact workflows
- Conduct 4–6 interviews with subject matter experts
- Document workflows with step‑by‑step instructions, tools, and troubleshooting guidance
- Develop process maps illustrating handoffs, dependencies, and risk areas
- Build reusable templates and checklists housed in a centralized repository
- Validate outputs with SMEs and recommend process improvements
You’ll gain hands‑on experience with tools used across engineering and operations, including:
- Microsoft Office: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook
- Process Mapping: Visio, Lucidchart (plus optional Miro/whiteboarding tools)
- Data & Feedback: Excel, Microsoft Forms
- Training Tools: Stream, Clipchamp, screen recording tools
- Systems Exposure: SAP (observational—order validation and material referencing)
We’re seeking students with a strong interest in technology, process improvement, and operational workflows.
Preferred majors- Computer Science
- Business Administration (Bachelors or MBA)
- Industrial or Process Engineering
- Supply Chain / Logistics / Operations Management
- Management Information Systems
This project helps transition the Integration Center away from undocumented, tribal knowledge toward structured, standardized ways of working. By creating clear, reusable documentation and templates, you’ll help teams operate more efficiently, onboard faster, and reduce errors. Your work will also lay the foundation for future automation and continuous improvement—driving long‑term operational excellence.
