Talent Acquisition | HR Operations | AuthorWe’re looking for a seasoned Senior Estimator with deep expertise in heavy civil site construction to join our high-performing team. This is a key leadership role focused on preparing and winning competitive bids for large-scale site development projects — including earthwork, grading, excavation, utilities, road construction, and stormwater management.
If you thrive on solving complex challenges, building strategic bids, and influencing high-value projects from the ground up, we’d love to hear from you.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare accurate, detailed cost estimates for site construction projects, including mass excavation, grading, drainage systems, underground utilities, paving, and retaining structures.
- Conduct quantity take-offs from engineering drawings, specifications, and geotechnical data.
- Leverage estimating tools such as Agtek, Bluebeam, and Excel to develop bids efficiently and effectively.
- Analyze subcontractor and supplier quotes for competitiveness and scope alignment.
- Identify cost-saving strategies and value-engineering options without compromising scope or quality.
- Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate quotes from subcontractors and material vendors.
- Build and maintain strong relationships across key trades: earthwork, utility installation, concrete, and paving.
- Ensure all scopes are comprehensive, coordinated, and aligned with overall project needs.
- Utilize historical data, productivity benchmarks, and market trends to improve estimate accuracy.
- Assess constructability, schedule risk, and site conditions to develop practical, cost-effective solutions.
- Recommend alternative methods, materials, or phasing to reduce cost and increase bid competitiveness.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure estimates align with project goals and budgets.
- Attend pre-bid meetings, site walks, and post-bid debriefs.
- Present estimate packages and strategy recommendations to executive leadership.
- Support early-stage business development with conceptual and budgetary estimates for future work.
