Job Overview
A Tower Crew Lead supervises and performs construction duties on a daily basis to ensure quality construction for expedited commercial deployment of services. The role includes supervising subcontractors and site personnel, coordinating schedules, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities- Inspect and approve all sub‑contractor work.
- Schedule and coordinate with local authorities for required inspections.
- Plan, prioritize, and mobilize staff, materials, and subcontractors to meet progression schedules.
- Keep Construction Supervisor apprised of progress, concerns, and deviations from plans or schedule.
- Identify materials and resources needed to complete projects and coordinate delivery and off‑loading of towers, generators, and shelters.
- Create and complete construction "punch lists" and ensure all items are remedied before customer inspection.
- Finalize inspections to close projects.
- Assign tasks to crew members; perform civil or tower construction activities such as stacking towers, testing, positioning antennas, installing antennas, running coax, and more.
- Ensure tasks are completed in a timely, quality manner.
- Train and assist employees in completing tasks.
- Interact professionally with client representatives.
- Maintain and enforce SBA and OSHA safety practices; perform daily job‑site safety inspections.
- Immediately stop work when unsafe practices or conditions exist.
- Work overtime, including Saturdays, Sundays, and evening hours.
- Complete all aspects of SBA’s Tower U training classes.
- Perform any other projects and duties as assigned.
- H.S. Diploma/GED and 5+ years tower construction background, with the ability to read blueprints, details, and specifications; knowledge of test equipment (Sweep, PIM, Fiber) and relevant certifications; knowledge of standard knots.
- OR 2+ years tower construction background with NWSA/TTT‑1 Certification (written and practical) and 1+ years of leadership experience.
- English language fluency required.
- Physical ability to climb to heights of up to 500 feet.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Domestic travel up to 90% of the time and ability to operate a company vehicle at the CMV level.
- Valid government‑issued driver’s license.
- Must meet physical demands described below and be able to work in remote locations for extended periods.
- Hear, understand, and respond to verbal requests in person and over the telephone.
- Visual ability correctable to 20/20.
- Operate a commercial motor vehicle.
- Stand and work 90% of the day; stoop, bend, reach, and stretch as needed.
- Lift up to 75 pounds.
- Walk, stand, bend, and climb regularly on job sites in remote locations.
- Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, electrical shock, radiation, mechanical parts, high‑precise work, and very loud noise levels (earth‑moving equipment, jack hammers).
