As a Preconstruction Engineer (Construction), you will help the world’s leading companies solve their most difficult problems and partner with seasoned leaders to deliver the highest quality solutions to our clients with consistency and accuracy.
You’ll Do
- Work individually and in teams to support capital projects and implement solutions for our clients.
- Work under the supervision of a preconstruction manager, construction project manager, or site superintendent in estimating, planning, and buyout of design/build projects.
- Gain experience in the building of industrial structures in manufacturing, distribution, cold storage, advanced technologies, oil & gas, pharma, and food processing.
- Develop project schedules, phasing plans, bid lists, scope packages, and perform price evaluations.
- Implement quality control program activities during pre‑construction.
- Prequalify vendors and subcontractors.
- Process RFIs, bulletins, and submittals.
- Participate in post‑project reviews.
- Maintain strong working relationships with the design team, sub‑contractors, sub‑consultants, OEMs, and suppliers.
- Develop and maintain relationships with regional general contractors and end‑users in multiple cities within the Central Region.
- Coordinate with Design Group construction teams as required to maintain current cost data.
- Make an impact day‑to‑day with your skills and expertise, strengthening that relationship with our clients and team.
- 3+ years of construction experience including subcontractor procurement and on‑site project management functions.
- Read and understand construction, installation, and I&C documents: details and drawings.
- Experience working on large commercial projects (both greenfield and brownfield/renovations).
- Experience with light industrial / manufacturing projects in Food & Beverage or Life Sciences space would be a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and meet tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to understand project schedules.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and manage multiple projects.
- Demonstrated ability to work in teams and gather subcontractor input for optimizing project performance.
- Self‑motivated individual with good written and verbal communication skills.
- A willingness to travel for project requirements, including installation and start‑up activities, client and company‑sponsored meetings, trainings, industry‑related seminars, forums, and conventions.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Procore & Project).
- A Bachelor of Science in construction management or related field.
- OSHA 10- or 30‑hour certification.
