POSITION SUMMARY
KW Landscape Architects (KW) is seeking a Project Coordinator in our Houston office to support the design, documentation, and coordination of landscape architecture projects from early design through construction documentation. This position is ideal for a developing landscape architecture professional with a strong technical foundation who is ready to take on more complex assignments, contribute to design solutions, coordinate with project teams and consultants, and grow into a trusted project team member.

Design Documentation and Technical Production
- Prepare and coordinate landscape architectural drawings, including planting plans, hardscape plans, layout plans, grading plans, lighting plans, materials plans, tree mitigation plans, and permit planting plans.
- Use KW standards, project direction, and design intent to produce clear, accurate, and well-organized documentation.
- Develop planting designs using KW’s plant palette and document selections in a way that supports design quality, constructability, and project goals.
- Prepare materials schedules, lighting schedules, and related documentation in coordination with the project team and consultants.
- Draft and document construction details under the direction of leadership while building a stronger understanding of construction methods and detailing practices.
- Use company preferred software with increasing independence, accuracy, and efficiency.
- Review background files and information received from consultants to confirm that required information is complete, accurate, and usable.
- Coordinate with consultants, vendors, representatives, and internal team members when information is missing, unclear, or requires follow-up.
- Complete assigned tasks within the timeline provided by leadership and communicate early when priorities, timing, or project needs shift.
- Provide proactive project status updates to leadership before deadlines or deliverables are at risk.
- Support the coordination of task assignments when appropriate and help maintain project momentum.
- Contribute to design conversations by asking thoughtful questions, studying project context, and developing a stronger understanding of materials, detailing, planting strategy, grading, and consultant coordination.
- Build confidence in translating design direction into coordinated project documents.
- Strengthen judgment around next steps, documentation quality, and project priorities.
- Continue developing the communication skills needed to interface professionally with clients, consultants, and project partners.
- Serve as a mentor and resource for Landscape Associates by reviewing basic tasks, answering questions, and modeling strong work habits.
- Train and support entry level team members on foundational production tasks, documentation standards, and project expectations.
- Contribute to a collaborative team environment by staying engaged, organized, responsive, and solution oriented.
- Prepare clear notes, document decisions, and support effective internal communication.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Landscape Architecture from an accredited college or university, with a minimum of 2 years of related experience in landscape architecture, design documentation, or a closely related design environment.
- Strong conceptual thinking, spatial reasoning, graphic composition, and working knowledge of AutoCAD, Rhino, Lumion, Photoshop, and other design or production software used in landscape architecture.
- Ability to prepare clear, accurate, and well-organized drawings, schedules, notes, and technical documents, while coordinating with teammates, leadership, consultants, vendors, and project partners.
