Terms:
This is a full-time, FLSA - exempt, benefited, position in the Economic Development Division that reports to the Executive Director - Workforce Development. This position will report to the Alpharetta North-Fulton Campus.
Salary: $74,880/yr
Schedule:
Monday - Friday, occasional Saturdays and Evenings. Flexibility is a must. This position may occasionally work at the Lawrenceville Campus
Minimum Qualifications (Job Code 11210):
A bachelor's degree
* and* Three (3) years of work-related experience
Preferred Qualifications:
(In addition to minimum qualifications) Preference will be given to applicants with proven experience in the field of economic development. Proficient understanding and utilization of evolving technologies (AI, etc) is a plus. Successful candidates will demonstrate strengths in business development, partnership cultivation, staff supervision, and budget management. Knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design, and program assessment is preferred, along with familiarity in community engagement, economic development, or industry-specific training initiatives.
Strong presentation and relationship-building skills are essential to effectively represent the college to external partners. Work-related experience is limited to economic development, workforce training & development, or related field
Job Description
Summary:
Under general supervision, the Executive Director of Workforce Development leads and promotes the College's continuing education, corporate training, and workforce development programs for public and private organizations. The position develops, manages, and delivers customized, revenue-generating training solutions that address employer, industry, and community workforce needs and support the College's economic development goals.
The Director builds and maintains strong relationships with business, industry, K-12, and community partners to identify skill gaps and develop responsive training programs. In collaboration with internal stakeholders, the role designs, budgets, and oversees non-credit, certificate, and contract training programs, including administration of certificate programs with high schools in the local service area.
This position oversees the daily operations of non-credit and contract training programs, ensuring quality instruction, instructor performance, and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities include developing training proposals; managing pricing, contracts, billing, and compliance in Modern Campus or related systems; monitoring outcomes; and analyzing market data, employer input, and participant feedback to support continuous improvement.
The Director supervises instructors and staff, including recruitment, onboarding, and performance evaluation, and may direct the preparation of lesson plans for non-credited courses. The role also oversees and manages the College's Building Operator Program and other sustainability and green workforce initiatives aligned with regional and industry needs.
In partnership with Marketing and Communications, the Director promotes training programs through targeted outreach and community engagement and represents the College at business, workforce, and community events. The position supports strategic planning efforts, including identifying funding opportunities, grants, and innovative training pathways, and performs other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Economic Development.

2. Develops and oversees assigned training contracts. (Performed by some incumbents)
1. Develops appropriate contract language to effectively carry out training objectives.
2. Prepares and reviews draft contracts to ensure accuracy, completeness and compliance.
3. Processes or directs the processing of contracts, including securing appropriate signatures, distributing executed copies and maintaining comprehensive contract files.
4. Periodically monitors contracts for compliance; advises management of problems and makes recommendations for corrective action.
