We are seeking a Facilities & Safety Manager to oversee the maintenance, safety compliance of our medical device manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for ensuring that the physical infrastructure, utilities, and safety programs support uninterrupted production while maintaining full compliance with OSHA, FDA, ISO 13485, and local environmental and health regulations. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, problem-solving skills, and a thorough understanding of facilities management within an ISO 8, cleanroom-based manufacturing environment.
In the beginning, this role will support the validation and commencement of our new manufacturing facility in Alpharetta, Georgia, full time onsite.
- Facilities Management:
- Manage day-to-day operations of building infrastructure, utilities (HVAC, plumbing, electrical), clean rooms, and controlled environments.
- Oversee facility upgrades, preventative maintenance schedules to building and manufacturing equipment, repair services, and vendor relationships to ensure operational readiness.
- Coordinate with Production, Quality, and Process Development Engineering teams to support facility needs for our production labs and clean rooms, warehouse and office space.
- Ensure proper operation and maintenance of cleanroom environments (ISO Class
8), including pressure differentials, air filtration, and temperature/humidity controls. - Support the sustainability of our 6S program to help foster the culture of a world class manufacturing facility.
- Maintain and monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Environmental Monitoring Systems (EMS).
- Safety & Environmental Health:
- Develop, implement, and maintain workplace Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) programs in compliance with OSHA, EPA, Cal/OSHA (if applicable), and other regulatory bodies.
- Lead or coordinate third party safety training programs including emergency response, chemical handling, PPE, ergonomics, and hazardous waste management.
- Perform routine safety audits, risk assessments, and root cause analyses; drive corrective/preventive actions utilizing lean six sigma tools.
- Ensure proper handling, labeling, storage, and disposal of materials in compliance with HAZMAT, DOT, and local regulations.
- Manage safety KPIs, OSHA reporting and take lead on all incident investigation and reporting, when applicable.
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operational Management, Occupational Safety and Health or related field required.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt Certification is preferred.
- OSHA 30 certification is preferred.
- CPR training certification.
- Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in managing facilities and safety programs within an ISO
13485 regulated industry. - Experience working in a manufacturing setting that includes production laboratories and clean rooms.
- 5+ years of experience in managing facilities and safety programs within an ISO
- Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proven leadership and team management expertise.
- Strong project management skills and experience with.
- Proficiency in lean methodologies and Six Sigma tools.
- Experience in the identification of the 8 wastes, line balancing and performing theory of constraints.
- Experience in developing and sustaining a 6S program.
- Experience in developing and sustaining morning markets and value stream structure organization.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and software such as Power
BI and/or Tableau. - Proficiency in ERP and Master data, preferably in Microsoft Dynamics 365.
Pay Range
$110,000 - $120,000 USD
Physical Requirements and Work Conditions- Mobility & Posture:
May require occasional sitting, standing, walking, climbing, reaching, bending, or stooping. - Lifting/Carrying:
May require lifting and carrying items 50 pounds or more, depending on the role. - Manual Dexterity:
Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, grasping, and operating office or job-specific equipment. - Driving:
Some roles may require the ability to operate a motor vehicle for extended periods and maintain a valid driver’s license.
