Position: Project Manager – Lime Kiln & White Liquor Plant (WLP) Services (Outage & Reliability Focus)

About the Role

This role is ideal for professionals who have experience leading maintenance, reliability, or outage execution in a pulp & paper mill environment—particularly in or around causticizing, recausticizing, lime kilns, or White Liquor Plant (WLP) systems.

Responsibilities
  • Field Execution & Reliability Support
  • Provide field service support for WLP and lime kiln equipment, including diagnostics, alignments, inspections, maintenance support, and troubleshooting
  • Support customers during shutdowns and outages, including coordinating contractors and occasionally leading field crews
  • Apply root cause analysis and problem-solving techniques to address equipment issues and improve performance
  • Ensure safe execution of all work, including adherence to LOTO and mill safety protocols
  • Project Management & Delivery
  • Lead all technical and commercial aspects of assigned projects
  • Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables
  • Coordinate with engineering teams to complete designs and ensure alignment with project scope
  • Track milestones and ensure timely, high-quality execution
  • Prepare and present monthly project status reports
  • Resolve field challenges while maintaining strong customer relationships
  • Coordinate subcontractors during outages and field execution
  • Support negotiation of commercial and technical terms with subcontractors
  • Monitor contractor performance to ensure safety, quality, and schedule compliance
  • Serve as a key interface with customers, providing updates, managing expectations, and identifying opportunities
  • Collaborate with Service Account Managers to strengthen customer relationships
  • Work closely with global product teams (Finland) to support technical solutions and service development
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering OR 5+ years of relevant experience in:
  • Maintenance or reliability engineering
  • Equipment service
  • Pulp & paper mill operations
  • Experience managing projects, shutdowns, or field execution activities
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with customers and internal teams
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities in a fast‑paced environment
  • Willingness and ability to travel 25–50% across the U.S. and Canada
Highly Preferred (Top Candidate Profile) Experience working with:
  • Lime kilns, recausticizing, causticizing, or White Liquor Plant systems
Background in:
  • Outage/shutdown planning and execution
  • Contractor coordination in industrial environments
Familiarity with:
  • Reliability and troubleshooting methods (RCFA, FMEA, condition monitoring, vibration analysis)
  • Precision alignment and rotating equipment
  • Experience working in pulp & paper mills, especially in recovery and power area
Required Skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams)
  • Experience with SAP or similar systems is a plus
  • AutoCAD or design/drafting experience is a plus
  • Hybrid role based in Alpharetta, GA
  • Regular travel to mill sites across North America
  • Work environments may include industrial settings with varying temperatures, noise, dust, and PPE requirements
