Job Summary
Executes engineering for design and development of technologies, components, systems, and products for generator control switch gear human machine interface (HMI) applications. The main function of a controls engineer is to design, develop, install, and maintain equipment which is used to monitor and control engineering systems and processes.

- Design, modify, develop, write, convert, and implement software programming for generator control switch gear HMI applications.
- Configure, program, and test HMI hardware.
- Work with Power System Engineers to validate/correct HMI programming.
- Support HMI issues in the field and provide remote HMI installation support.
- Collaborate with the HMI team under supervision of the AES HMI manager.
- Assist in creating and following electrical design schedule, from specification concept to system completion.
- Testing, evaluating, modifying and calibrating products and instruments.
- Analyze plant processes, design and implement improvements.
- Troubleshoot issues with hardware and processes.
- Analyze project requirements and perform technical calculations supporting design including electrical requirements, robotic safety standards, and motor controls.
- Ensure all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements are observed for all work completed.
- Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time.
- Leadership and mentoring skills to provide support and constructive performance feedback.
- Technical proficiency in some software applications.

- Degree in an accredited engineering, computer science, or materials science curriculum plus 0-2 years of experience or equivalent experience.
- Willing to take a 2-year degree with 4+ years of experience.
- No master's degrees.
