Job DescriptionLicensed Mechanical Engineer to join the Architecture/Engineering Process Practice. The role involves collaborating with cross‑discipline teams and clients to design and implement mechanical systems for capital projects.
Responsibilities- Design facility mechanical systems such as water, chilled water, wastewater, HVAC, cooling towers/condensers, boiler/steam or hot water systems, compressed air, and other plumbing systems for custom, industrial, and commercial facilities.
- Work with other licensed engineers and designers to produce mechanical design calculations, and oversee mechanical design using AutoCAD MEP. Revit experience or oversight is a plus.
- Develop performance specifications for sprinkler systems and refrigeration system design (knowledge/experience preferred).
- Interface with vendors to perform equipment sizing, hydronic piping system design, selection of mechanical equipment, and develop detailed specifications.
- Coordinate with on‑site project teams, conduct inspections of installations, and ensure compliance with design intent.
- Participate in project installation and start‑up activities, client meetings, trainings, and industry seminars as required.
- Minimum of 6 years of mechanical facilities design engineering experience, demonstrating competency in system analysis, sizing, design, and report writing.
- Experience designing life‑science and building mechanical systems, including HVAC (air handling, fume hoods, unit heaters/coolers), water, chilled water/glycol, wastewater, cold/warm rooms, clean rooms, cooling towers/condensers, boiler/steam/condensate systems, hot water/hydronic systems, compressed gases (air, O₂, N₂, CO₂, etc.), and waste drainage plumbing systems.
- Proficiency in design and engineering software such as Revit and Revit MEP; experience with Trane Trace/Carrier HAP is highly desired.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and client‑facing skills.
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET‑approved program.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required to seal engineering documents.
Competitive salary range of $110,000–$150,000. Relocation assistance available for qualified candidates; relocation assistance for those outside the local area. Eligible to travel as needed for project requirements.
