Your role at Clorox
The Technical Services Production Services Packaging Engineer supports Supply Chain with a focus on packaging materials, new product innovation, cost savings, supply assurance, brand maintenance, packaging sustainability and product quality. This role demands proactive leadership from innovation to production start‑ups, encompassing supplier qualifications, data analysis, problem‑solving, specification development, manufacturing trials, Design‑to‑Value innovation, change management and regulatory compliance. Direct technical leadership and communication across Supply Chain, R&D and manufacturing are key, involving leadership in small‑to‑medium projects and contributing packaging materials expertise to larger initiatives.
Effective coordination of resources is essential for problem‑solving, risk management, adapting to changing priorities and supporting new work processes and change management.
- Lead Production Services Packaging activities and deliverables, developing plans, performing work, and ensuring proper change management processes and product information are entered in Clorox databases.
- Participate on project teams (leadership if appropriate) to ensure process rigor and adherence to internal & external compliance requirements and standards. Review and ensure technical information is current, accurate and complete, and has gained proper concurrences when appropriate.
- Build strong alliances with internal and external technical, business, suppliers and consultant leaders. Develop skills, experiences and recognition as a key functional resource in packaging material engineering and practices.
- Use problem‑solving skills such as developing hypotheses, crafting and performing test plans, and analyzing data. Independently develop conclusions and recommendations.
- Develop and transfer knowledge regarding packaging materials and machine interfaces.
- Support project teams delivering initiatives for the Cleaning Business Unit. Work closely with manager to develop plans, implement activities and deliver results.
- Provide proactive and independent leadership to remove or communicate barriers allowing work to be completed effectively and efficiently.
- Build and support an environment that drives an innovative, collaborative and process‑oriented workplace & culture.
- Seek opportunities to help project teams and internal customers develop new ways of working while performing work.
- Provide packaging materials knowledge and support to Cleaning BU functions such as R&D, Procurement, manufacturing and commercialization project management.
- Independently lead small to medium size projects.
- Collaborate with and influence manufacturing & functional teams using tools such as scope or project plan documents, business‑driven recommendations, and presentations.
- Independently establish action steps, activity prioritization and ensure risk communications are elevated for awareness to direct manager and other functional leaders.
- Support Production Services packaging function to drive adherence of management of change processes.
- Ensure process and data accuracy for packaging material and finished product packaging in Clorox databases such as PLM. Require process rigor with all work.
- Five years of industrial experience in a consumer product company (manufacturing, technical or R&D). Previous packaging material experience preferred.
- Bachelor of Science from an accredited institution in packaging, mechanical or chemical engineering.
- Fluent oral and written communication in English.
- Strong proactive technical and activity leadership skills including influence, collaboration and conflict resolution. Ability to work under direction of immediate manager.
- Highly flexible and adaptable – able to work independently in a fast‑paced, multitasking environment on multiple projects.
- Strong interpersonal skills; may be sole representative of Production Services on cross‑functional technical project teams.
- Strong problem‑solving skills, issue resolution and root‑cause analysis.
- Strong oral and written business communication skills.
