Caterpillar Switchgear, part of the Electric Power Division, currently has an opening for a CAD Design Engineer located in Alpharetta, Georgia.

** Role Definition*
* As part of a design team, you will design and develop moderately complex electrical projects for release to production in a manner which ensures superior performance, durability, reliability, quality, and serviceability to the worldwide marketplace.

** What You Will Do*
* + Generate drawing packages in AutoCAD Electrical consisting of front elevations, floor plan layouts, control overviews, and communications plans.

+ Interpret customer drawings and internal quoting documents to develop switch gear drawings.

** What You Will Have*
* Data Gathering & Analysis:
Knowledge of data gathering and analysis tools, techniques, and processes; ability to collect and synthesize data from a variety of stakeholders and sources in an objective manner to reach a conclusion, goal, or judgment.

+ Describes alternative data-gathering techniques and tools.

+ Documents basic data-gathering methodologies.

+ Identifies key details in reviewing customer drawings and specifications.

Decision Making and Critical Thinking:
Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

+ Explains characteristics and steps in designing solutions for customers.

+ Identifies issues and communicates with others when a decision needs to be made.

+ Define the critical information in AutoCAD blocks to capture design requirements and create the associations needed for accurate wiring and assembly drawings.

** Additional Requirements*
* + Requires a degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum or equivalent experience.

+ Knowledge of low voltage switch gear and medium voltage switch gear is a plus.

+ Knowledge of electrical control systems design is a plus.

+ Knowledge of AutoCAD/ AutoCAD Vault for drawing management is a plus.
