Caterpillar Switchgear, part of the Electric Power Division, currently has an opening for a CAD Design Engineer located in Alpharetta, Georgia.
** Role Definition
** As part of a design team, you will design and develop moderately complex electrical projects for release to production in a manner which ensures superior performance, durability, reliability, quality, and serviceability to the worldwide marketplace.
** What You Will Do
*** Generate drawing packages in AutoCAD Electrical consisting of front elevations, floor plan layouts, control overviews, and communications plans.
* Interpret customer drawings and internal quoting documents to develop switch gear drawings.
** What You Will Have
** Data Gathering & Analysis:
Knowledge of data gathering and analysis tools, techniques, and processes; ability to collect and synthesize data from a variety of stakeholders and sources in an objective manner to reach a conclusion, goal, or judgment.
* Describes alternative data-gathering techniques and tools.
* Documents basic data-gathering methodologies.
* Identifies key details in reviewing customer drawings and specifications.

Decision Making and Critical Thinking:
Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
* Explains characteristics and steps in designing solutions for customers.
* Identifies issues and communicates with others when a decision needs to be made.
* Define the critical information in AutoCAD blocks to capture design requirements and create the associations needed for accurate wiring and assembly drawings.

Effective Communications:
Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
* Delivers helpful feedback that focuses on behaviors without offending the recipient.
