Caterpillar Switchgear, part of the Electric Power Division, currently has an opening for a Power Systems Applications Engineer located in Alpharetta, Georgia.
** What You Will Do
*** Review specifications, proposals, estimates, and other contract documents to develop submittal packages consisting of drawings and BOMs.
* Interpret customer specifications and drawings and have in-depth dealer/consultant interaction.
* Approve designs for switch gear and generator control systems created by CAD Designers for submission to customer.
* Design protective relaying schemes for switch gear.
* Finalize power envelope designs for medium and low voltage systems
* Work with consultants and customers to gain production approval on submittal packages.
* Support inside and outside sales team members with technical solutions and guidance.
* Support production engineers for successful transition from submittals to production.
* Present clear detailed designs for production engineers to execute.
* Experience in the design of low and medium voltage switch gear.
* Research new part requirements, read manuals and contact vendors to ensure successful implementation.
* Collaborate with customers and leadership to scope and execute projects that meet the needs of the business
* Accountable for delivering timely, high-quality simulation and analysis impacting products/processes and providing clear recommendations to stakeholders
* Partner with design, manufacturing, supply chain and test to robustly deliver new products and improve validation processes
* Keep up-to-date on new technologies and drive continuous improvement to established techniques
* Requires a degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum.
