Overview
Kimley-Horn’s Alpharetta, GA team is seeking a Structural Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join their Solar Structures team! Must be willing to travel. This is not a remote position.
Responsibilities- Perform structural analysis and design for rooftop solar systems across large building portfolios
- Evaluate existing structures for solar loading including gravity, wind, and seismic impacts
- Prepare structural calculations and standardized reports for high-volume projects
- Review as-built drawings and field data to assess structural capacity
- Identify retrofit solutions for solar installation feasibility
- Coordinate with electrical, civil, and solar teams
- Coordinate and conduct site walks
- Must be willing to travel
- Manage multiple concurrent projects with quick turnaround times
- Support QA/QC reviews and maintain project documentation
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 6 months
- 1+ years of structural engineering experience
- Knowledge of building codes (IBC, ASCE
7) - Experience with structural analysis software (RAM, RISA, SAP
2000 preferred) - Familiarity with AutoCAD or Revit
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Must be willing to travel
