The Sr. Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting in month-end close, account reconciliations, filings with government agencies, and preparation of financial statements. This role analyzes and researches current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to ensure proper classification and comparison to budget. The position reviews and resolves problems as they are identified and serves as an informal mentor for new hires.
- General Ledger Accounting - 70%
- Participates in financial meetings
- Performs daily journal entries
- Ensures accurate and timely GL entries to process the month-end close
- Performs account reconciliations to support accurate bookkeeping
- Prepares financial statements
- Completes and submits government filings
- Responds to financial questions from internal customers
- Researches issues and troubleshoots for potential solutions
- Performs third-party fee management including reconciliation, processing, accruing, and remitting payment
- Completes account and variance analysis
- Documents current changes in processes, revising the procedure manual as needed
- Assists in analyzing, comparing, and researching current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to ensure proper classification and comparison to budget
- Assist with year-end audit
- Serves as SME for General Ledger
- Informal Mentor to New Staff Accountants - 30%
- Serves as informal mentor to new associates and assists with training
- May work on special projects or other duties as assigned
- Communicates with external service providers
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required
- 5+ years as a general ledger accountant required
- Ability to adhere to and exhibit the Company Values at all times
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
- Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Working knowledge of financial management systems, Workday a plus
