Associate - Mergers & Acquisitions

Brief Description

The expectation of the Associate is to apply their analytical skills and foundational understanding of M&A concepts to support client engagements. The Associate will focus on learning and applying Coker’s methodologies while contributing to the successful execution of projects through attention to detail, strong organizational abilities, and analytical thinking.

The Associate will be primarily responsible for supporting deal preparation and execution, including financial modeling, presentation development, data organization, and other key activities required to launch and advance engagements. Working under the direction of Senior Associates, Managers, and Vice Presidents, Senior Vice Presidents and Managing Directors, the Associate will ensure work is completed accurately, efficiently, and in alignment with project goals.

In addition to client work, the Associate may contribute to internal initiatives that promote firm growth, process improvement, or knowledge development as assigned. This role emphasizes continuous learning, collaboration, and a commitment to producing high-quality deliverables.

• Take direction from Senior Associate/Manager/Senior Manager and Vice President/Senior Vice Presidents and execute on said direction.
• Assist on a variety of buyside, sellside, carve-out, divesture and strategic advisory engagements for healthcare clients (both private equity backed and independent).
• Assist in development of pitch materials for new deals we are pursuing.
• Ensure clients receive the highest quality deliverables and have the best possible experience working with Coker.
• Demonstrate subject matter expertise through speaking/writing opportunities and begin to own an area of subject matter expertise.

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university.
• Master's degree and/or additional certifications (ASA, ABV, CVA, CFA, CPA, MBA, MHA, MPH, PMP, etc.) are preferred, but not required.
• 1 to 2 years of relevant industry experience in investment banking, private equity, corporate development and/or consulting; with a preference for healthcare.
• Must be highly motivated, self-sufficient, perceptive, ambitious, flexible, and high energy.
• Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to exercise mature judgment.
• Excellent interpersonal/communications skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
