Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Datacenter Engineer to oversee and maintain our enterprise-level data centre operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing network infrastructure, ensuring system security, and supporting high availability environments. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies in a dynamic environment, contributing to the optimisation and security of our IT infrastructure.
Responsibilities- Design, implement, and maintain network infrastructure including LAN, WAN, VLANs, and data centre connectivity.
- Configure and support network security devices such as firewalls (Cisco ASA), VPNs, and IDS/IPS systems.
- Manage network protocols including BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, TCP/IP, IPsec, MPLS, and DNS.
- Administer and support operating systems including Windows Server, Linux distributions (Debian, CentOS, Ubuntu), Solaris, and macOS.
- Oversee virtualisation platforms such as VMware vSphere and utilise cloud services like AWS and Azure for hybrid cloud solutions.
- Implement high availability solutions using load balancers and clustering techniques to ensure system resilience.
- Monitor network performance using tools like Solar Winds, PRTG, and Splunk; troubleshoot issues proactively.
- Automate tasks with scripting languages such as Bash (Unix shell), Power Shell, Python, and utilise configuration management tools like Ansible.
- Maintain network security through encryption protocols (SSL/TLS), PKI management, LDAP/SSO integration, and regular vulnerability assessments.
- Support network installation projects including cabling, hardware deployment, and system upgrades.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on Dev Ops initiatives to optimise deployment pipelines and system management processes following ITIL best practices.
- Extensive knowledge of computer networking concepts including routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP), network architecture & management.
- Proficiency in configuring Cisco routers & switches; experience with Juniper devices is desirable.
- Strong understanding of network security principles including firewall configuration (Cisco ISE), VPN setup (IPsec), IDS/IPS systems.
- Experience with operating systems such as Windows Server, Linux (Debian, CentOS, Ubuntu), Solaris; system administration skills are essential.
- Familiarity with virtualisation technologies (VMware vSphere), cloud platforms (AWS & Azure), and containerisation tools.
- Ability to script automation tasks using Bash Shell Scripting, Power Shell or Python; experience with Ansible is advantageous.
- Knowledge of SAN storage solutions and network monitoring tools like Solar Winds or PRTG for proactive management.
- Understanding of Dev Ops practices including CI/CD pipelines; experience with SFTP/FTP/HTTPS for secure data transfer is beneficial.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex network issues efficiently.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to deadlines.
