Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Database Patching Automation Engineer/Architect to design, develop, and implement automation solutions for patching enterprise databases, including Oracle, SQL Server, Db2, Mongo

DB, MySQL, Postgre

SQL, Cassandra, and other open source platforms. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Dev Ops, scripting, configuration management, and database lifecycle automation.

This role will focus on creating scalable, repeatable, and secure patching frameworks across hybrid and multi cloud infrastructures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement automated patching frameworks for:
    • Oracle (including RAC & Exadata)
    • SQL Server
    • IBM Db2
    • MongoDB
    • MySQL / MariaDB
    • PostgreSQL
    • Cassandra
  • Develop end to end patching pipelines including:
    • Version discovery
    • Prechecks/post checks
    • Compliance validation
    • Reporting and dashboards
  • Build and maintain Automation Workflows using Rundeck, Ansible, Terraform, MFO, Git Lab CI/CD, or Azure Dev Ops
  • Develop reusable automation frameworks and templates for infrastructure operations.
  • Create and maintain scripts using Python and other scripting languages (Shell, Power Shell).
  • Integrate automation workflows with monitoring, scheduling, and orchestration tools.
  • Integrate patching automation with CMDB, service management, and change control workflows (Service Now preferred).
  • Collaborate with OS, Database, and Security teams to ensure compliant and scalable automation.
  • Troubleshoot automation failures and optimize existing automation processes.
  • Document automation designs, workflows, and operational procedures.
Mandatory Skills
  • Automation Tools:
    • Ansible (playbooks, roles, inventories)
    • Rundeck (job orchestration, scheduling)
    • Terraform, Git Lab CI/CD
    • MFO (Managed File Processing / relevant enterprise automation tool)
  • Programming & Scripting:
    • Python (strong hands‑on experience)
    • Shell scripting (Bash) and/or Power Shell
  • Automation Expertise:
    • Proven experience implementing patching automation solutions
    • Automation for large‑scale enterprise environments
Added Advantage (Good to Have)
  • Strong knowledge of Operating Systems:
    • Linux (RHEL, Oracle Linux, Ubuntu)
    • Windows Server
  • Database Knowledge:
    • Oracle, DB2, Postgre

      SQL, or other enterprise databases
    • Understanding of database patching concepts
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines or Dev Ops tools
  • Exposure to monitoring and ing tools
  • Knowledge of security and compliance requirements related to patching

  • Has implemented automation solutions from design to production, not just consumed them
  • Hands‑on experience automating patching at scale
  • Strong problem‑solving and debugging skills
  • Comfortable working in a large enterprise, cross‑functional environment
  • Able to clearly document and explain automation workflows
