App Ops Engineer
Duration: 12 Month contract to hire
Location:
Alpharetta, GA (5 days onsite)
Required Pay Scale: $48-$50/hr W2

The App Ops Engineer will support mission‑critical enterprise applications by providing L2/L3 production support, deep Linux/Windows administration, and hands‑on troubleshooting across infrastructure, application stacks, and networking components. This role ensures high availability, performance, and stability across a large financial systems environment. The engineer will build and maintain servers, manage certificates, support deployments, analyze packet captures, and work closely with application, networking, and engineering teams to resolve complex issues in a fast‑paced production environment.

This position supports a large‑scale application operations organization responsible for payments, core banking, and enterprise financial platforms. The engineer will work on system builds, upgrades, performance tuning, monitoring, and incident response across both Linux and Windows environments. The team is currently strengthening its hardware‑level OS engineering capabilities and needs someone with strong troubleshooting depth, load balancer experience, and the ability to diagnose issues across the full application stack.
MustHaves
- Deep Linux and Windows administration experience
- 5+ years in technical application production support (L2/L3)
- Strong experience with load balancers, routing, packet capture, tcpdump/Wireshark, and thread dump analysis
- Hands‑on TLS/SSL/certificate installation, renewal, and troubleshooting
- Proven experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Windows and Linux environments
- Application stack administration: IIS, Web Logic, Apache
- VMware virtualization experience
- Monitoring tools:
Dynatrace, Splunk, Extra Hop - Experience deploying software, patches, and OS updates
- Strong scripting skills: shell, bash, Power Shell, Python, Perl, Ruby
- Cloud knowledge (preferably AWS)
- Familiarity with software and security architectures
- .NET programming experience
- Networking fundamentals (routing, switching, load balancing concepts)
- Agile environment experience
- Experience with JIRA, Confluence, Wiki, Service Now
