Our leading financial client seeks a visionary cloud security professional to champion a high‑visibility, critical initiative.

In this pivotal role, you will serve as the strategic bridge between legacy infrastructure and next‑generation public cloud architecture, acting as the go‑to authority on network security during a major migration effort and ensuring every workload and application transitioned is secure, resilient, and compliant. This role focuses on innovation and collaboration with a forward‑thinking team.

Salary: $80-86 hourly (W2) + benefits + matching 401K

• Partner & analyze:
  Engage deeply with application owners and infrastructure squads to dissect, map, and document application dependencies, traffic flows, and explicit connectivity needs.
• Engineer policy:
  Convert complex application requirements into precision‑engineered network security blueprints, robust firewall matrices, and zero‑trust policies.
• Architect cloud security:
  Design and validate secure‑by‑default cloud networks, leveraging native cloud guardrails (Security Groups, NACLs) and enterprise‑grade perimeter firewalls.
• Accelerate operations:
  Collaborate with Security Operations and perimeter defense teams to automate, optimize, and accelerate the firewall rule lifecycle.
• Define standards:
  Author and advocate for comprehensive cloud network security standards, defining boundaries and integration points between corporate firewall ecosystems and native cloud security.
• Drive discovery:
  Lead security discovery phases for upcoming migration waves, proactively identifying and mitigating architectural dependencies.
• Optimize & troubleshoot:
  Act as the Tier‑3 escalation point to diagnose, resolve, and fine‑tune complex cloud network security configurations.

• Cloud security expertise: 5+ years of experience in network security engineering or architecture, emphasizing public cloud security boundaries.
• Control mastery:
  Knowledge of enterprise‑tier firewall suites, next‑gen perimeter defenses, and defense‑in‑depth frameworks.
• Translational skill:
  Proven ability to convert complex application connectivity requirements into elegant firewall rule sets.
• Cloud networking DNA:
  Comfort with cloud‑native routing, VPC/VNet architecture, subnets, and modern transit gateways.
• Agile mindset:
  Experience embedding security into fast‑paced Agile, Dev Ops, or Dev Sec Ops  delivery models.
• Communication impact:
  Exceptional communication and documentation skills; able to articulate technical risk and security logic to engineers and leadership.
• Autonomy:
  Self‑starting, results‑driven mindset capable of navigating ambiguity in a rapidly evolving enterprise environment.
• Foundational strengths:
  Background spanning infrastructure architecture, core network engineering, and information security risk domains.

• Active public cloud certifications (e.g., Cloud Security Specialty, Advanced Solutions Architect).
• Hands‑on experience with security policy orchestration and firewall automation tools (Algo Sec, Tufin, Fire Mon).
• Prior experience navigating network security compliance within highly regulated industries (Finance, Healthcare, Gov).

The target hiring compensation range for this role is $80 to $86 hr. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to, education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
