PositionSummary
The Lead Director, Decision Scientist - Forecasting Accuracy and Analytical Validation for Financial Products, ensures the accuracy, reliability, and financial integrity of analytics-driven products across the underwriting ecosystem. This leader sets the strategy for forecasted P&L accuracy, anomaly detection in live underwriting deals, analytical validation, quality assurance, and forecasting and P&L algorithm verification. They ensure that changes to data, logic, assumptions, configurations, and applications deliver expected results without unintended financial or operational impacts.
Key Responsibilities:Analytical Validation & Financial Impact Assessment
- Establish and lead the enterprise strategy and framework for analytical validation across the underwriting ecosystem.
- Validate business outcomes and financial impacts resulting from data, logic, configuration, and application changes.
- Lead P&L validation, forecasting validation, and financial impact assessments to ensure confidence in analytical outputs.
- Partner with business and finance stakeholders to investigate unexpected variances and performance shifts.
- Analyze large and complex datasets to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and performance drivers.
- Conduct root cause analysis, variance analysis, and business impact assessments.
- Analyze and synthesize quantitative and qualitative data, including findings from interviews, questionnaires, observations, and stakeholder feedback, to explain business outcomes and support decision-making.
- Develop self-service reporting solutions that provide business users with timely access to insights and performance metrics.
- Understand, interpret, and summarize key insights, trends, risks, and opportunities from reports and dashboards.
- Develop KPIs, scorecards, dashboards, and reporting frameworks that measure product quality, financial accuracy, and business outcomes.
- Translate complex analytical findings into actionable recommendations for business and executive leaders.
- Establish standards and best practices for analytical quality assurance.
- Lead anomaly detection efforts to identify data quality issues, calculation discrepancies, forecasting deviations, and unexpected business outcomes.
- Develop monitoring and validation controls that improve confidence in analytical products and financial results.
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing organization of decision scientists, analysts and validation professionals.
- Define team vision, strategy, goals, priorities, and OKRs.
- Manage resource planning, workload prioritization, and organizational growth.
- Provide executive-level communication, reporting, and strategic recommendations.
- 12+ years of experience in analytics, decision science, business intelligence, financial analysis, quality assurance, or data validation.
- 5+ years of experience leading large analytical teams and developing people leaders.
- Expertise in analytical validation, anomaly detection, root cause analysis, business impact assessment, and financial validation.
- Strong ability to analyze and synthesize both quantitative and qualitative data to generate insights and explain business outcomes.
