Overview of the Payroll Supervisor Role

The Payroll Supervisor will oversee and manage all payroll operations, ensuring accurate and timely processing while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The Payroll Supervisor will collaborate closely with HR, Accounting, and Finance to ensure payroll data integrity and process efficiency.

Responsibilities of the Payroll Supervisor

The Payroll Supervisor will:

  • Recruit, interview, motivate, and develop both direct and indirect team members.
  • Oversee the workflow for assigned entities and manage direct reports to ensure timely completion of payroll tasks.
  • Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Implement, maintain, and review payroll procedures to ensure accurate processing of salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and deductions.
  • Partner with HR, Accounting, and Finance teams to ensure data consistency and system integration.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives aimed at streamlining payroll processes and increasing automation.
  • Ensure accurate and prompt updates to payroll, including new hires, terminations, and adjustments to compensation.
  • Maintain full compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour regulations.
  • Support payroll‑related audits by providing required documentation and reports.
Minimum Qualifications for the Payroll Supervisor

The Payroll Supervisor should have:

  • A minimum of 5 years of high‑volume, multi‑state, and Canadian payroll management experience; a bachelor's degree is preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in Excel, including VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables.
