Operator - Direct Labor Nights

Night Shift Operator (Saw)

Schedule: Night Shift – Monday to Thursday. Four 10‑hour shifts (8:00 PM – 6:00 AM).

This position is responsible for supporting production of custom aluminum extrusions by cutting material according to specifications from blueprints and technical drawings.

• Understand and follow written and verbal work instructions.
• Set up equipment and lay out fabrication projects from blueprints and technical drawings.
• Cut materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saw.
• Measure components and finished projects using a variety of measuring devices to ensure correct dimensions within required tolerances.
• Complete roll tooling changeovers using hand tools and maintain equipment, supplies and machinery safely.
• Troubleshoot machinery, materials, saws, measuring equipment and tooling and make adjustments needed for successful completion of projects.
• Visually inspect extrusions and check against blueprints and drawings and report defects.
• Participate in continuous improvement and LEAN manufacturing activities.
• Be flexible and adaptable to assignment changes, ready to assist when help is needed and to learn new tasks.
• Maintain all work areas and equipment in a clean and orderly condition at all times.
• Perform all work in a safe manner; use proper lock‑out procedures during repairs or machine adjustments. Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure all safety equipment is in proper working order.
• Perform additional related duties as assigned or directed.
• Actively participate in communication and WAVE culture.

• Safety – OSHA rate, compliance with regulations and policies, evidence of risk reduction, engagement in the 8‑Step Safety Process, near‑miss reporting.
• Quality – customer claims, quarantined product, ability to recognize defects and implement corrective actions through visual inspection while machine is in operation.
• Productivity – changeover time, PE%, downtime %, troubleshooting, CMMS activity, work orders.
• Communication – shift handoff and line preparation, Gemba, kaizen event participation.

• High school diploma or GED.
• Preferred:
  Knowledge and experience of machinery in a manufacturing environment or similar.
• Preferred:
  Experience with LEAN manufacturing, 6S, Six Sigma.
• Preferred:
  Experience in a fast‑paced, high‑performance manufacturing environment.
• Ability to lift a maximum of 40 pounds.
• Ability to stand 8–10 hours per day at the assigned work area.
