Position Summary
The role involves maintaining, monitoring, and operating press equipment—such as the unwind, rewind, splice, RTM, and LVS systems—to ensure continuous operation and high product quality. Responsibilities also include training fellow press technicians and performing general quality inspections.
Responsibilities- Ensure adequate roll stock and supplies at the unwind to enable continuous operation.
- Keep unwind and rewind splicers ready for splicing tasks.
- Complete View and Paper Reject reports accurately.
- Assist the Second Press Operator with register tasks and ink adjustments (viscosity, pH, color).
- Clean and rebuild doctor blades or heads; use a paper caliper to verify roll thickness.
- Sweep, mop, and empty trash in the press area daily.
- Use safety equipment properly and uphold 5S standards in the press area.
- Label pools, agent samples, and test rolls correctly.
- Stage cores and supplies for the next shift at the rewind station.
- Operate the rewind unit, collect product samples for inspection, QA, and security labelling.
- Assist pressmen with quality inspections of press samples, fanfolds, and perforation quality.
- Set up and mark products on the RTM panel within the RTM office station.
- Operate and maintain the LVS system.
- Perform makeready duties: change anilox cylinders, plate cylinders, ink chambers, and prepare unwind/rewind with correct cores.
- Train and mentor Press Ink Technicians and support career advancement.
- Undertake any other job duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Mechanical and technical aptitude.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for press operations coordination.
- Ability to lift 75 pounds and push/pull 500+ pounds.
- Capability to comprehend specific manuals and work independently.
- Experience working with diverse groups and making effective decisions.
- Teamwork, problem‑solving, and teamwork skills.
- Physically agile and able to perform required lifting and repetitive tasks.
- Desire to train for promotion to the next position.
- Strong credibility with team members and supervisors, even under pressure.
English (written and spoken).
Physical DemandsFrequent sitting, reaching, standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Requires lifting and moving up to 10 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally. Requires close, distance, color, peripheral, depth vision, and ability to adjust focus. Physical agility and the ability to push/pull 500+ pounds are essential.
