Duration: 10+ months Contract (Temp to Hire)

Note:

All positions are temp to hire roles.

The main skill sets will be mechanical assembly, electronics soldering (IPC J-STD-001 is a plus), and circuit board reworking.

Description:

Position Overview:

An Assembly Solder is responsible for performing soldering operations in the assembly of electronic components and products. They play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of electronic assemblies by effectively joining parts together using soldering techniques. The Assembly Solder works in a manufacturing or production environment and collaborates with a team of technicians, engineers, and supervisors to meet production targets and maintain product standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Soldering Operations:
    Perform soldering tasks using hand tools, soldering irons, and other equipment to join electronic components, wires, and parts according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Component Preparation:
    Prepare electronic components for soldering by cleaning, tinning leads, and applying flux as necessary to ensure proper adhesion and electrical connections.
  • Assembly and Integration:
    Assemble and integrate electronic components onto printed circuit boards (PCBs), sub-assemblies, or final products following assembly diagrams, work instructions, or blueprints.
  • Quality Control:
    Inspect soldered connections, joints, and assemblies for defects, such as bridging, cold joints, or insufficient solder, and perform rework or touch-up as required to meet quality standards.
  • Workstation Maintenance:
    Maintain a clean and organized workstation, ensuring that soldering equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and functioning correct.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    Record production data, defects, and any non-conformities encountered between the assembly process. Report issues to supervisors or engineering personnel as needed.
  • Process Improvement:
    Collaborate with the engineering team to identify opportunities for process improvement, efficiency enhancement, and cost reduction. Safety and Compliance.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    Adhere to safety protocols, guidelines, and company policies to ensure a safe working environment. Follow industry standards and regulations related to soldering and electronics assembly.
Skills and

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in soldering and electronics assembly is highly desirable.

  • Proficient in hand soldering techniques and the use of soldering irons, solder wire, and flux.
  • Familiarity with reading and interpreting assembly diagrams, work instructions, and blueprints.
  • Knowledge of various soldering methods, including through-hole and surface mount technology (SMT) soldering.
  • Understanding of electronic components, their polarities, and identification markings.
  • Attention to detail and ability to perform precise soldering work with minimal errors.
  • Basic understanding of quality control principles and ability to perform visual inspections.
  • Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate with colleagues.
  • Adherence to safety guidelines and the ability to follow procedures accurately.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work on multiple projects simultaneously.

  • IPC Joint Industry Standard (IPC-J-STD)
