Position SummaryThe Digital Pathology Specialist is responsible for the daily execution, oversight, and maintenance of VIZIA Diagnostics’ digital slide imaging workflows. This role manages the end-to-end digital scanning process, including slide preparation, image acquisition, quality review, digital file routing, and issue resolution. The Digital Pathology Specialist also coordinates physical slide distribution to pathologists and helps ensure consistent turnaround times across digital pathology operations.
This position is ideal for a detail-oriented individual who enjoys working with technology, laboratory processes, and quality-focused workflows.
Hours:
10:00pm-6:30am
- Perform daily digital slide scanning using pathology imaging systems.
- Ensure accurate, complete, and high-quality image capture for diagnostic review.
- Review scan quality, identify imaging artifacts, and perform rescans as necessary.
- Escalate quality concerns and technical issues appropriately.
- Monitor scan throughput and workflow performance to support turnaround time goals.
- Maintain digital worklists and prioritize slides according to operational needs.
- Prepare, stage, and organize glass slides and tissue blocks for scanning.
- Ensure digital files are correctly linked, stored, and available within designated systems.
- Troubleshoot and support resolution of missing, incomplete, or misrouted digital images.
- Maintain accurate records of scan volumes, rescans, and equipment downtime.
- Perform routine equipment checks and basic maintenance activities.
- Identify and elevate equipment malfunctions to Lab Operations leadership or vendor support.
- Assist with troubleshooting workflow interruptions and technical issues.
- Coordinate and execute daily glass slide distribution to pathologists.
- Track slides required for additional testing, special stains, recuts, or add-on requests.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of all materials to support diagnostic workflows.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a laboratory, healthcare, manufacturing, technical operations, or similar environment.
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple sequential tasks.
- Proficiency with standard computer applications and data entry systems.
- Technical training, associate degree, or related certification.
- Experience with digital imaging systems, slide scanners, laboratory equipment, or pathology workflows.
- Familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) or healthcare technology platforms.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
