Job Description & How to Apply Below
Syensqo is all about chemistry. We're not just referring to chemical reactions here, but also to the magic that occurs when the brightest minds get to work together. This is where our true strength lies. In you. In your future colleagues and in all your differences. And of course, in your ideas to improve lives while preserving our planet's beauty for the generations to come.

We are looking for:

We're looking for a Research Scientist / Analytical Scientist who will act as a technical expert in molecular and spectroscopic analysis to support Specialty polymer R&D. This person will deliver high-quality analytical data, solve complex characterization problems, and continuously improve laboratory methods and capabilities.

We count on you for:

* Serve as a subject matter expert in spectroscopy-particularly NMR-and complementary techniques such as FTIR, NIR, UV-Vis, Raman, and nano-IR (as applicable to polymer systems).

* Analyze polymeric materials and small molecules to determine chemical and physical properties, composition, structure, relationships, and reactions, utilizing NMR-spectroscopy, and other spectroscopic techniques.

* Develop new characterization methods. Identify unknown impurities in complex polymer matrices, degradation products of polymer systems, small molecule/polymer interaction products, and perform reaction kinetics experiments.

* Develop effective sample preparation methods. Design, develop and carry out experiments. Interpret complex laboratory data.

* Interface with project teams to contribute directly to the development of new products, process development and customer support.

* Facilitate the technical development of the molecular science and spectroscopy laboratory and the professional growth of colleagues.

* Effectively communicate results through presentations and reports. Provide full, complete, and accurate documentation of all work as required by SOPs and Company policies and procedures.

* Demonstrate commitment to safety. Perform all work activities in a safe and timely manner. Proactively identify safety related items and initiate appropriate actions. Participate in safety audits and safety meetings.

* Keep lab equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, and performing preventive maintenance and repairs.

* Perform housekeeping duties as required. Routinely maintain and clean laboratory facilities and equipment, manage the laboratory waste.

* Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement in the Analytical Chemistry Labs.

Success looks like:

* Reliable, defensible analytical results delivered on time.

* Strong technical ownership of spectroscopy/analytical methods and the ability to troubleshoot ambiguous issues.

* Proactive upgrades to methods and instrumentation that improve capability, throughput, or data quality.

* Effective collaboration and communication with project teams.

You will bring:

* A Ph.D. in Chemistry or Material Science with strong research and coursework emphasis in NMR-spectroscopy and other analytical techniques.

Minimum Experience

* At least 3 years of analytical laboratory experience in an academic or industrial setting.

* In-depth understanding of NMR spectroscopy.

* Ability to lead the development and implementation of quantitative NMR spectroscopy methods.

Preferred Experience

* Expertise in operating Bruker NMR instruments.

* Experience in structure elucidation using solution NMR spectroscopy.

* Experience implementation of new experimental designs and exploring new NMR technologies and experimental techniques.

* Experienced using MNova, ACD, statistical software, and MS Office.

* Experienced with polymer chemistry and polymeric materials.

* Knowledge in additional orthogonal analytical techniques such as LC-MS, GC-MS, GPC is a plus.

Desired skills:

* Practical knowledge of structural organic chemistry.

* Excellent instrument skills including instrument maintenance, troubleshooting and repair.

* Analytical method development and validation.

* Laboratory management and operational excellence.

* Advanced computer skills to navigate instruments computer systems and data…
