Position Purpose
Inspects, maintains, repairs and installs electrical systems, equipment and fixtures. Is fully qualified to perform the most complex functions and may lead the work of others.
PrimaryDuties & Responsibilities
- Performs preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electromechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment according to supplier specifications.
- Estimates time and material costs for assigned projects.
- Dismantles equipment to gain access to and repairs defective parts using hand tools, power tools and precision measuring and testing devices.
- May fabricate devices and assemblies from steel.
- May weld, thread pipe and solder using gas and electric equipment.
- Re-assembles and tests equipment ensuring safe and efficient operating conditions is restored.
- Inspects and troubleshoots electrical systems, equipment and fixtures using testing devices and diagnoses basic operational problems. Takes corrective action and obtains necessary repair parts per procedure in the assigned area.
- Prepares work orders either manually or from a CMMS system as required and prepares work related reports, procurement requisitions, charts, graphs and data submittal requirements in an accurate and timely manner.
- Performs electrically related activities specified by work order and installs new or replacement electrical systems, equipment and fixtures.
- Reports and documents result of inspections and work performed.
- Performs facility maintenance and repair and may replace or install damaged glass, windows, doors, partitions, ceiling or floor tile, door locks, carpet, and/or paint.
- May assist with maintaining parts, spares and maintenance inventory.
- May assist in other areas of the plant as directed.
- May assist with orienting or training new or less experienced Maintenance personnel.
- Spends 100% of time in an operations environment.
- Typically spends 25-35% of time exposed to outdoor and sometimes inclement weather.
- Company service vehicles are used as required.
- Travels 1-2 times per year for the company provided training.
- May serve rotational 24-hour emergency on-call.
- Possible work hazards include fumes, dust, toxic and caustic chemicals, noise, rotating machinery, high pressure and hot and cold temperatures, slippery surfaces, water and electrical hazards. Requires using chemicals and cleaning solvents to maintain and repair equipment.
Education and Experience
- High school or GED with the ability to read, write and comprehend English operational, process, safety and quality instructions and be able to carry out verbal and written instructions. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- At least five years of experience in a related position in a similar environment with ability to comprehend complex specifications, wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, blueprints and manuals.
- Proficiency in the care and use of all site specific, facility required PPE (including respirators, gas detectors, confined space equipment, etc.).
- Organized, accurate and timely execution of all assigned tasks.
- Ability to efficiently maintain, install and repair electrical equipment such as pumps, blowers, compressors and other electrically driven equipment.
- Ability to diagnose problems of any complexity, troubleshoot electrical equipment and systems, and take corrective action within policy and procedure limitations.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to operate a computer maintenance management system.
- Team player willing to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.
- Class II High Voltage Unrestricted Electrical Contractor License required.
- Hourly pay rate between $38-41 per hour.
- Minimum water/wastewater license as required by regulatory agencies at site.
- Valid driver’s license (commercial license and heavy equipment operator license desirable) and a safe driving record.
- Bending 60%, walking 25%, standing 10% and sitting 5%; requires lying on back, kneeling, crawling, twisting and squatting.
