Grounds Maintenance Crew Leader

This is a full-time position with benefits. This position supervises and participates in the work of a grounds maintenance crew.

• Directs, assigns, supervises, and participates in the work of a grounds maintenance crew.
• Plans weekly work schedules.
• Operates light and heavy machinery including commercial mowers, backhoes, tractors, weed eaters, blowers, and others.
• Participates in the application of herbicides and pesticides.
• Repairs fences, playground equipment, and sidewalks.
• Installs and maintains irrigation systems.
• Refurbishes sports fields.
• Lays sod.
• Aerates and top dresses fields.
• Removes litter and trash from parks and county buildings.
• Installs landscaping.
• Prunes trees and shrubs.
• Deliver voting booths to precinct locations.
• Raises and lowers flags at county buildings.
• Pours concrete.
• Vacuums leaves.
• Performs safety checks on equipment, fences, playground equipment, and other facilities.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
• Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years’ experience or service.
• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's licenses issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

• Possession of a valid State of Georgia driver's license (Class
  
  C) and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) in compliance with County Safety and Loss Control Guidelines. Completion of the State of Georgia Department of Transportation Defensive Driving Course and/or Emergency Vehicle Operation Certification within twelve (12) months of employment.
• Possession of a Class A CDL and a Commercial Pesticide Application License
