purpose of classificationthe purpose of this classification is to perform semi-skilled and skilled manual work associated with the construction, maintenance, and upkeep of county streets/roads, rights-of-way, water distribution and collection systems, storm water and drainage systems, public facilities and property, and other infrastructure as part of a public works/utilities crew. This class is reserved for those maintenance workers that perform skilled work associated with brick laying, masonry, pipe-fitting, and concrete finishing.
essentialfunctions

- performs skilled labor in labor in support of construction, maintenance, and upkeep projects: works independently or takes a lead role in setting; mixing, pouring, and finishing concrete and cement; laying bricks; fitting and laying pipe; and other related skilled tasks.
- performs manual labor in support of construction, maintenance, and upkeep projects: lifts, moves, loads, and unloads materials, equipment, tools, furniture, and supplies; digs ditches, trenches, and holes manually or utilizing power equipment; shovels, rakes, spreads, compacts, and levels dirt, rock, asphalt, cement, and other materials; retrieves supplies, materials, tools, equipment and other items and runs various errands as needed; collects and transports materials, supplies, tools, and equipment to and from the worksite;
