Unified Middle Office (UMO) is a dynamic and fast‑paced area within the Firm’s WM Technology Division. We are responsible for client and account demographic data of WM clients. We are developing a new resilient platform to maintain the same. PositionDescription
As a leader of a Java development team, you will:
- Develop people through coaching, mentoring and management
- Lead projects and initiatives front‑to‑back from planning, designing, architecting to implementation and go‑live
- Lead the design, development and support of enterprise‑scale, global applications
- Act as a thought leader in the technical space
- Work closely with business and technology stakeholders
The Role
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
- 7+ years professional work experience in development
- At least 1 year in a leadership position (tech lead or team lead)
- Strong knowledge of Java (enough to mentor / coach other developers)
- Good knowledge of Unix/Linux
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with microservices architecture
- Experience with Spring/Spring Boot
- Experience developing client‑server, distributed, real‑time, performance‑critical, highly available, or large‑scale systems
- Hands‑on experience with modern distributed technologies such as messaging brokers (e.g., MQ, Kafka) and distributed caching solutions (e.g., Redis)
- Experience building real‑time applications using multithreading
- Experience working with Git
- Experience with Intelli
J or Eclipse IDE - Experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP) and Dev Ops
- Experience with Fullstack Development
- Proficiency with SQL and No
SQL databases (e.g., DB2, SQL Server, Mongo)

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $120,000 and $170,000 per year at the commencement of employment. Base pay will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short‑ and long‑term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley‑sponsored benefit programs.
