Mid Level Java Developer

Job Description

This role will focus on designing, building, and modernizing cloud-native microservices that support Risk Solutions data-driven products. The developer will work primarily in Java (17+/moving toward 21) using the Spring framework to enhance existing services and break down legacy components into scalable, secure microservices deployed in Azure. Day to day, they’ll collaborate closely with product managers, architects, and other engineers to deliver backend services that are performant, resilient, and secure.

A strong emphasis will be placed on secure coding practices, including identifying and remediating security vulnerabilities, hardening APIs, and supporting internal security standards. The team is also embracing AI-assisted development tools, so this person will be expected to comfortably use modern coding agents and LLM-based assistants to improve productivity, code quality, and troubleshooting. Overall, this role sits at the intersection of backend engineering, cloud modernization, and security-minded development in a highly regulated, data-intensive environment.

Pay rate will vary between 50-70/hr, depending on experience.
