Associate EDI Developer
Position located in the United States, remote.
OverviewWe’re looking for an Associate EDI Developer for our remote US team. This is a full‑time position. You will join a collaborative technology team supporting the development and enhancement of Aptean’s EDI translation application and integration solutions.
About the roleAs an Associate EDI Developer you will support the development and maintenance of Aptean’s EDI translation application. The role combines hands‑on application development with exposure to integration technologies, building a foundation in EDI and enterprise data exchange.
You’ll work closely with senior developers and technical leads to build, enhance, and troubleshoot EDI mappings and integrations, ensuring seamless data flow between systems. This includes supporting common EDI standards such as X12 and EDIFACT while developing solutions that enable customers to automate critical business processes across supply chain and trading partner networks.
In addition to development work, you will help identify and resolve technical issues, contribute to documentation, and participate in testing and continuous improvement efforts. Success requires strong problem‑solving abilities, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn new technologies—including working within an AI‑augmented development environment where tools like Git Hub Copilot, Cursor or similar accelerate workflows.
Key Responsibilities- Application Development – Develop, enhance, and maintain features within Aptean’s EDI translation application using C#, .NET, SQL, and/or Python.
- EDI Mapping and Integration – Build and maintain EDI maps and integrations, supporting data exchange between systems and external trading partners.
- Issue Resolution and Troubleshooting – Debug and resolve issues related to EDI transactions, data transformations, and system integrations.
- Standards and Data Processing – Process EDI documents (X12, EDIFACT) ensuring accuracy and reliability of data flows.
- Testing and Quality Assurance – Participate in testing efforts, creating and executing test cases to validate system functionality and performance.
- Documentation – Contribute to technical documentation, including data flows, system configurations, and integration specifications.
- Collaboration – Work closely with senior developers and cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑quality solutions aligned with business and technical requirements.
- Continuous Improvement – Contribute to ongoing improvements in development practices, tools, and processes, including leveraging AI‑assisted development tools to increase efficiency and code quality.
- At least 3 years of experience in software development or integration‑focused roles.
- Experience with programming languages such as C#, .NET, Python, or similar.
- Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
- Hands‑on experience using AI‑assisted development tools (e.g., Git Hub Copilot, Cursor, Claude) and familiarity with LLMs or code generation models.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to learn new technologies and EDI concepts quickly.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A proactive mindset and willingness to collaborate in a team environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.
- Familiarity with EDI concepts such as trading partner onboarding, EDI map development, and common transaction sets (850, 856, 810, 997).
- Experience with EDI translation or integration tools such as Gentran, Cleo, True Commerce, or similar platforms.
- Exposure to B2B SaaS, supply chain, or logistics‑related domains.
- Experience working with APIs, file‑based integrations, or data transformation tools.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies and best practices.
