Role OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled and visionary Apigee Developer Lead to own, architect, and scale our Enterprise API Management platform. In this role, you won't just be writing proxies; you will serve as the strategic bridge between engineering squads, security compliance, and product teams. You will establish design standards, champion API-first strategies, and mentor a team of developers while remaining hands-on in designing high-performance, secure, and robust API ecosystems using Google Cloud Apigee.
TechnicalRequirements
- API Management Expertise, 4+ years of dedicated, hands-on experience designing and managing APIs on Google Cloud Apigee (Edge, Apigee X, or Apigee Hybrid).
- 7+ years of overall software development experience, preferably utilizing Java, Node.js, Python, or Go. Strong proficiency in JavaScript/Java for custom Apigee callouts.
- Deep understanding of REST, JSON, SOAP, XML, GraphQL, and gRPC.
- Solid experience with CI/CD tools, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) in cloud environments (GCP preferred, AWS/Azure acceptable).
- Familiarity with SQL and No
SQL databases for caching configurations and state management.
- Design and implement robust, scalable, and secure API proxies and products within the Apigee Edge/X/Hybrid platform. Define enterprise-wide API architecture patterns, reusable shared flows, and extension policies.
- Lead, mentor, and code-review a team of integration developers. Establish coding standards, API governance policies, and best practices for the entire development lifecycle.
- Implement rigorous API security protocols including OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, JWT, TLS termination, CORS, and comprehensive threat protection policies (SQL/XML/JSON injection mitigation).
- Build and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines (using tools like Jenkins, Git Lab CI, Git Hub Actions, or Maven) for seamless, zero-downtime API deployments and configuration management.
- Optimize API traffic management using caching strategies, rate limiting, and quotas. Configure advanced monitoring, alerting, and custom analytics dashboards via Apigee Analytics or GCP Cloud Monitoring.
- Partner with backend engineers, frontend developers, enterprise architects, and business stakeholders to translate complex business requirements into clean, developer-friendly REST/GraphQL APIs.
