Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree and experience managing office operations. Three to four years of related office experience or training.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree. Five years of related experience, with part at SRSU or other university.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Assist the Borderlands Research Institute (BRI), the Institute Director, and the Associate Director of Operations in office operations.
  • Keep various administrative fiscal records for reporting office funds and individual project expenditures.
  • Requisition and maintain supplies for office and research programs.
  • Process travel requisitions and vouchers for faculty, students and staff.
  • Send signed invoices to Accounting and track payments.
  • Assist with bulk mailing of newsletters.
  • Operate computer, utilizing advanced expertise for word processing, spreadsheet applications, and/or database management.
  • Assist with donor database entry and filing, deposit donations.
  • Process new hire and continuing employment paperwork.
  • Assist with supervising student office worker and student fleet assistant.
  • Arrange appointments and manage correspondence for Institute and Director.
  • Help maintain event calendar.
  • Maintain records and checkout calendar for fleet of research vehicles, satellite phones, and other equipment and coordinate fleet repairs.
  • Submit mileage reports to Physical Plant.
  • Provide individuals and general public with information about the Institute and attend various functions to assist with events.
  • Be responsible for personal safety and the safety of others; exercise due caution and practice safe work habits at all times.
Equipment & Skills
  • Standard office machines; advanced computer skills.
  • Expertise in Excel and Word (preferred).
Working Conditions

Usual office conditions; standard hours; exempt from overtime provisions. Position is Security Sensitive. May be required to work evenings/weekends for departmental events.
