Primary Responsibilities

Summary

Responsible for assisting with the administration of testing services, maintaining testing security, supporting students and community members, and providing customer service for the Career Services and Testing Department. Provides support for daily testing center operations, testing administration, and departmental programming.

Essential Job Functions
Order from most to least performed duties.

  • Responsible for administering and proctoring examinations including, but not limited to, TSIA2, CLEP , Pearson VUE , DSST , ATI TEAS , and accommodated testing.
  • Verifies examinee identification and maintains testing security and integrity.
  • Monitors testing sessions and reports any testing irregularities.
  • Assists students, faculty, staff, and community members with scheduling, registration, and testing-related inquiries
  • Prepares testing rooms, materials, and equipment for testing sessions. Maintains testing records and documentation.
  • Assists with accommodated testing services.
  • Supports orientation testing sessions and special testing events. assists with Career Services events, career fairs, employer engagement activities, workshops, and student programming as department needs require.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties and services as requested or assigned by the Director of Career Services and Testing.

Other duties may be assigned to this position on a regular or occasional basis to respond to the needs of the university.

Expectation of Quality: Employee will support the mission of Sul Ross State University by providing high-quality, professional services, timely responses, and solutions to customer requests.

Physical Requirements: This position typically works in an office environment, requiring prolonged periods of sitting at a desk while using a computer. The role demands frequent use of hands and fingers to operate a keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment. Visual acuity is essential for reading and interpreting data on computer screens. Clear verbal communication skills are necessary for interacting with colleagues and employees.

Additionally, the job may involve occasional mobility around the office and attending meetings, as well as frequent travel to attend off-site meetings and trainings.

Key

Competencies:

Knowledge of standard office equipment, computers, printers, Microsoft Office applications, and testing software platforms; strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills; ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently.

Working Conditions

Usual:
Flexible hours, including some Saturdays. Required to participate in ACT and SAT weekend testing administration.

Security Sensitive: This position is classified as Security-Sensitive and is thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code §51.215 and Texas Government Code §411.094, which authorize employers to obtain and review criminal history record information for applicants.
